Earning a Presidential Volunteer Service Award

Colorado resident Robert “Bo” Parfet is a Denver-based impact investor who launched Denali Venture Philanthropy, LLC, a company that collaborates with businesses to help people. After working on Wall Street, Robert “Bo” Parfet recognized the importance of community service and implemented it into his business platform. He is a Gold Award recipient of the Presidential Volunteer Service Award (PVSA) program. This is a unique honor.

The PVSA recognizes individuals who have completed a high level of volunteer service. The award was created in 2003 by the President’s Council on Service and Civic Participation to emphasize the importance that volunteers play in building the country’s national identity and strength.

Several types of organizations may participate in the PVSA:

- Nonprofit, community-based, and faith-based organizations;

- Grades K-12 and institutions of higher learning;

- Membership and trade associations;

- National service programs and civic, fraternal, and service organizations; and

- Federal, state, and local government agencies, the United States military, and state entities abroad.

If an organization is not certified, volunteers should encourage the organization to obtain information on eligibility requirements.
